Home, - Evaluate strategies, systems and structures

Question - Using a recognised reflective model or tool, evaluate strategies, systems and structures used in health and social care practices to promote the rights, responsibilities and diversity of service users.

Answer - The evaluation of systems, strategies and structures in health and social care practices is important to take out desired outcomes regarding patient care. It is evident that the majority of the care setting failure has happened due to the system failure and poor management model in a care setting (Ardian et al. 2019). For this reason, the importance of the health and social care practices have been increased to establish the responsibilities, rights as well as the diversity of the service users.

Evaluation of the strategies, systems, and structure that are used in health and social care practices

It is true that without the proper strategies, systems as well as structure it is impossible to portray the CQI in a care setting. The way to develop health care practices in a care setting is associated with the CQI. It supports the improvement of every process and every action made in a care setting. There are many quality assurance programs executed in a hospital regarding the regulatory actions and changes (Wald et al. 2019). Checking, studying and reviewing are some of the important steps that are associated with this process. On a general note, it can be said that to assure the CQI in a care setting it is important to make sure that the structures of the plan and strategies are full proof. It is evident that health care settings deal with the life of a person and hence utmost seriousness and urgency needs to be imposed on this matter. The exclusion of the old process of assessment or strategies and inclusion of the new methods in that place needs to be done that will elevate the quality of a care setting. The role of the strategies and systems in order to maintain continuous improvement in the care setting is remarkable.

Kolb's reflection theory

Kolb's reflection theory can be used here to reflect on the understanding of the CQI in a care setting. This theory comprises four stages that help to establish a deep understanding of the care setting and the role of CQI. In the first stage, it demands gathering experience, which means the health caregivers and professionals need to experience the benefits and drawbacks of the structures that a specific care setting possesses (Sfantou et al. 2017). The investigation of the experience and uses of the prior structures needs to be done in this stage so that the necessary areas of change can be identified. The health care professionals can compare and contrast the primary care setting and then can derive necessary care from that as well in the third stage of conceptualization. Lastly, the active experimentation of the actions can be executed based on the previous analysation of the healthcare setting for CQI.

Gibbs' reflection theory

Gibbs' reflection theory provides a more detailed reflection method to assess the real CQI in a care setting. Using this theory it can be said that descriptions of the conditions related to the care setting need to be gathered (Gordon et al. 2018). In the case of care setting, the nurses need to describe all the happenings and problems related to the patient in detail so that the doctors can change their plan accordingly. Health care professionals need to empathise with the condition of the patent so that they can easily understand the root cause of the problem. The issue that is hindering the patient to get cured quickly needs to be assessed in this stage of the reflective cycle. The most important part of this cycle is the evaluation that means observing the condition of the patient. Then observing the present condition of the people according to the change in the plan. However, there is an important part of this process is that the way the new plan or treatment is affecting the patient needs to be evaluated. Whether the changes have affected the patient in a good way or in a bad way need to be mentioned in this. According to my point of view, the analysis of the situation is also required to compare the present situation of a patient and the previous position to assess the betterment. Lastly, the actions regarding the patient need to be continued accordingly so that the CQI is maintained from the beginning to the end.

Responsibilities and diversity of the service users in health and social care

Role of individual performance

The role of the individual in a care setting is of vital importance as the responsibility in this sector is very high. In a care setting the role of the doctor is most important as they totally navigate the health of a person (Wright et al. 2017). Along with this, the role of the health care professionals is important as they are the only people who stay with the patient all the time. They are the people who record and observe the patient regarding the illness they suffer. The irresponsive behaviour of the nurses and other health care professionals can be detrimental for both the patient as well as the healthcare setting reputation. Hence, according to me the role of the individual especially in the care setting is vital.

Impact of legislation and policies

The legislation and policies of a care setting are also very important in the case of CQI in a care setting. In many cases, it has been seen that before offering treatment to the patient there are many steps that need to be fulfilled (Morris, 2020). The official documentation of the patient, medical records before starting the treatment and regulations of the hospitals are intertwined. According to my point of view. These regulations need to be updated and reviewed within a regular interval of time so that no person can perform in this unauthentically. Moreover, the policies of the hospitals related to patients as well as the healthcare professionals need to be evaluated and changed as per the requirement. Equal importance must be given to all the policies and rules so that the entire process can be changed according to the new rules.

Conclusion

All things considered, it can be said that the role of the CQI in the care setting is very important to make the health care sector more sustainable. In this study, the importance of the motivation and need theory has been applied and explained. The impact of the regulations and policies have been mentioned in this regard. On the whole, this study is comprehensive as well as all-inclusive.
