Introduction

Business communication is a process of communication virtue of which people use to collect and share information within and outside an organization.  Any business entirely depends upon constant interaction between customers and business executive as customers’ demand can be determined by interacting with customers. This essay enlightens various sides of business communication especially on verbal and nonverbal communication.  

Business communication requires constant flow of data and information. Feedback constitutes an important part of business communication. Business organizations nowadays tend to globalize themselves and therefore recruit a huge number of people. Hence, in order to run business effectively worldwide, internal communication (among employees) and external communication with customers.

Nonverbal and verbal communications are emphasized in this essay. Expectancy violation theory has been discussed.

In order to research in details about process of verbal and nonverbal communications and their usage as a method of business communication, it is mandatory to identify its importance and therefore to analyze it. I discuss these following points in next sections.

Nonverbal communication is used in professional place while exchanging products or documents. Nonverbal communication means vocal communication is not used in this way of communication rather written mode or any other convenient mode as deemed necessary, is used in communication. Non-verbal message constitutes Individual identity, Social relationships and Emotional predispositions.

The importance of nonverbal communication is seen in official work place especially between business executive and customers, while selling product and give a written document about product, deal or anything else.

The importance of verbal communication in case of business communication can be readily seen in employee communication within an organization. Organizational culture significantly impacts upon verbal communication whether or not it has done perfectly. Verbal communication therefore improves organizational culture, internal binding between employees of an organization and for growth and sustainability it is essential.

Expectancy Violation theory in perspective of these two modes of communications can be used to understand conflict that occurs in interacting. Below this theory is described and discussed in detail Expectancy violation theory dictates that expectancies of people  are reflected on people's’ behaviors and often these expectancies are responsible for conflict or violence (formal terminology). Violence mitigations therefore are an important process and expectancy violation theory helps to identify its source. In case of business, internal communication is extremely important and therefore it is necessary to convergeopinions of all employees into a single point so that no violation arises.  

The Expectancy violation theory analyzes individual personnel’s respond to any unanticipated violations in terms of social norms and expectations. In light of exchange theory, communication is a reflection of exchange of behaviors where one person's behavior can violate expectations of other (violate and therefore the name).In order to maintain the growth of organisation it is obvious maintaining business writing which can be considered as a business tool. Proper business optimization ensures business progress along with effective innovation management. Similarly, existing knowledge identification becomes easier with the assistance of effective communication for reaching organiosational objectives significantly(Seo, Sung, & Park, 2017). Team members’ engagement can be managed effectively by devising idea from ‘Group Decision Emergence Theory’. This helps in promoting employee engagement through motivating workers and thereby overall performance can be elevated. Indirect communication is considered as an obstacle in way of business improvement as it never delivers actual image of organizational requirement. Hence, gathering inappropriate information employees become confused and thereby employees may miss out actual target area.

Literature review 

Expectancy is one individual's anticipation. Expectancies are determined form individual’s perspectives based on specific characteristics and social norms as well as idiosyncrasies of communicators. Rui&Stefanone (2018) has noted that people generally view individual’s behavior as specific behavior rather than random one. People think that, individual have own expectancy in the way other people behaves. According to Nicholls & Rice (2017), expectancies arise due to observation as well as interactions with various persons. There are two types of expectancies, namely, prescriptive and predictive. Prescriptive expectations are generally based upon individual beliefs about specific behavior that needs to be performed against an action. EVT detects that a person's expectancies are influenced by three factors namely, environmental variables, interacting variables and other dependent variables (Rui&Stefanone, 2018). These factors in later stage involves into relational characteristics and communicator characteristics. Interacting variables are those variables that decide trait of a single person; these traits are age, race sex, and cultural background Environmental variables on the other hand, determines amount of space which is available as well as nature of surrounding territory. Communicator characteristics deal with personal features such as appearance, communication style and personality of an individual. Relational characteristics define status, familiarity and liking of an individual. Overall, expectancy in EVT is a result of behavior and characteristics of individuals. 

Behavior violence may arise at any time due to separate individual perspective of various people. The conflict arises due to this conflicting cause is termed as violence. An important component of EVT is violation and valence or behavior violation (Henderson, Cheney & Weaver, 2015). A violates single response can go either in positive or negative way and depends directly upon perspectives of respondents and that respondent's decision. Rewarding a violator can be evaluated by virtue many categories, namely resource allocation, prestige and attractive of individual decision. It is not easy to understand the needs of other culture without having an insight on it. Due to this reason, employees need gathering appropriate knowledge regarding cultural demands. Hence, using core communicational strategy employees can be enriched with proper knowledge. However, it is intention of individuals gathering knowledge regarding other culture through their behavior. Thus using effective communication with cultural knowledge internal conflicts of firm can be subdued easily. Thus, employees can become more empathic with their co-workers in this manner whereby healthy workplace can be generated (Kernbach, Eppler, & Bresciani, 2015)

The overall discussion of EVT theory therefore identifies that behavior is direct result of expectancies that in individual expects from competitors and obviously therefore violation will arise. In case of business organizations, these things prominent in internal communication as separate employees have separate opinion to towards business approaches. Business communication therefore suggests overall a discussion has to be taken considering opinions of all employees.   On the other vein, intercultural communication ameliorates the cultural relativism. Cultural environment of the organization needs to be friendly, as both the individuals as well as other communities are part of an organizational culture. 

In case of business communication as well as for communication in general sense, verbal communication bears a great role. Application of concept

Nonverbal communication is often used in workplace to interact within hierarchy as well customers (Mehrabian, 2017).Nonverbal communication is as important as verbal communication as it is often performed through written documents, eye contact or other methodologies. Nonverbal communication is extremely important in military organization as some secrets cannot be declared in open public. Moreover, nonverbal communication follows a formal structured format, which is important in official workplace. Therefore, in business process nonverbal communication is important as verbal communication. 

Expectancy violation is basically an analysis of violence that often emerges in business communication in both internal environment as well as external environment. Internal environment essentially deals with interaction between employees whereas external communication involves in analyzing interaction between business executives and customers. Expectancies arise due to observation as well as interactions with various persons (Lucas & Rawlins, 2015). The evaluation of violation is evaluated by evaluating relationship between valence of violent actor and particular behavior. EVT theory identifies that behavior is direct result of expectancies that in individual expects from competitors and obviously therefore violation will arise. In case of business organizations, these things prominent in internal communication as separate employees have separate opinion to towards business approaches. EVT detects that a person's expectancies are influenced by three factors namely, environmental variables, interacting variables and other dependent variables. This detection is absolutely urgent and important as the analysis helps to reveal the origin of the conflict that surely arise in between customer and business executives as well as between employees within an organization (Chaudhri, 2016).

As per the above discussion, a conclusion can be drawn which will conclude the study if business communication especially from perspective verbal and nonverbal communication perspectives.

The importance and mode of verbal and verbal communication is discussed along with this theory, which helped me to provide insights on the importance of communication in culturally diverse organization. Overall, this essay reflects upon two types of communication mode with their importance along with conflict management or violation theory namely Expectancy violation theory. I can therefore conclude that my research has identified the basic needs of these two modes of communication in case of business communication is standard and fulfilled the requirement of being standard essay along with enhancing my communication skills.
