Home, - Analysis of inclusive leadership

Introduction

The paper reflects upon the study of Project Globe that states that along with the United States, Iran, Germany, Singapore, and Greece were the parts of the study. It provides with the cultural dimensions of organizations and societies that are related to the leadership styles. Singapore is a part of Confucian Asian culture while Greece is a part of Eastern European culture as well as Germany is a part of Germanic European culture. Whereas, the U.S. is a part of Anglo societal culture as per the study. To assemble a global organization, it is significant to analyze inclusive leadership and how it could be applied in an organization.

Overview of inclusive leadership traits

Inclusive leadership comprises six different traits that enhance the organizational culture. One of the traits is a commitment, in an organization, there must be a commitment to make sure that there is a value that could be applied in inclusion and diversity. As per Choi, Tran & Park, (2015)another trait is courage; leaders must show courage while speaking, making decisions and facing challenges. Cognizance is determined to be another trait that states that leaders must take actions with self-awareness. The next trait is curiosity that enables the leaders to accept the challenges and work hard to get new ideas. One of the other traits is cultural intelligence recognizes an effective leader, and the final trait is a collaboration that creates innovation and shift in function within the organization.

Analysis of leadership skills

Key leadership skill is the ability of an individual to lead an organization by achieving the goals and objectives effectively. These factors largely help in enhancing the inclusive leadership within the organization. According to Randel et al.,(2018)another key leadership skills are the ability of the leader to think strategically. It helps the leaders to appropriately analyze the situations to get the facts essential for organizational success. The key leadership skills help in combining the followers and societally diverse leaders into one global organization. The responsibility of the human resource department is to provide training, teaching, and coaching to the National Urban Fellow's inclusive leadership and organizational model. It helps in monitoring the results of the organization to meet the objectives of the stakeholders. It is stated that value of the assertiveness is not followed by the societal clusters except the Anglo societal culture (Sugiyama, Cavanagh, van Esch, Bilimoria & Brown, 2016). They find humane oriented leadership more comfortable as compared to assertiveness. In the Project Globe study, the model for charismatic leadership is followed by all the societies. This leadership is determined to be a more effective style for men in comparison with women.

Review of leadership characteristics

In all the cultures except the Anglo culture, the gender egalitarianism was low. The female leaders who were rated high for individualized consideration and intellectual stimulation were considered to be highly efficient by the female followers. It is because the power distance was relatively high that ranges from a low of 4.99 in Singapore to a high of 5.43 in IranIt shows that female transformational leaders comprise of adequate powers will be effective. Other gendered leaders must decline the influences of gender and cultural casting by implementing the androgynous approach to leadership. In the other words of Clark & Horsford, (2015)all the countries that are involved in this new organization have a higher acceptance of the power distance. Inclusive leadership should state the fact that there comprise of universal expectations based on determination and power that helps in maintaining the self-concept of the followers. Transformational leadership is regarded as the opposite of transactional leadership. The emotional intelligence was interrelated with any of the gender or culture, but it was an element of transformational leadership related to the work. Moreover as per the author, in the transformational leadership influential power is determined to be the element as it was inherent in the personal qualities of the leaders (Aysola et al., 2018). As Singapore comprise of increasing individualism hence, the followers of future orientation will be enhanced by the leaders who have strong influential powers. A high level of power distance was accepted by all the societies, while the humane orientation was low except Iran that was 4.23. Their performance orientation was also high except in Greece that was 3.20.

Discussion of inclusive leadership to meet the challenges and opportunities

Inherent challenges of the Global Environment

While working with a global environment, the inherent challenges were different for organizations, followers and leaders based on their societal, cultural ideas. For example, Singapore would thrive seemingly in a global environment (De Mooij, 2015). As compared to other cultures Singapore is expected to thrive as in Singapore the organization, leaders, and society were high performance and future-oriented. Power distance and uncertainty avoidance were also high. Thus, the Singaporeans would accept the higher degree of structural authority as compared to other cultures. However, the society of Singapore was low in assertiveness, gender egalitarianism and humane orientation that clearly states that Singaporeans will receive high concessions in particular fields to achieve their organizational and leadership goals (Ye, Ng & Lian, 2015).

Inherent opportunities in the Global Environment

The Singaporean society was determined to succeed in aninternational environment, but from the Eastern European culture, Greece was also not suited well with the cross-cultural environment. Greece was considered to be less in all traits of the societies except power distance as well as assertiveness. Leadership from organizational and societal culture could not utilize organizational strategies and inclusive leadership. As mentioned by (Unger, Rank & Gemünden, 2014)Greece estimated low value on gender egalitarianism and humane orientation hence, there possess limitations in the opportunities based on the societal components. Iran comprises of highest humane orientation that was 4.23 than the other countries that lead to the formation of a new organization to get new opportunities. Both Iran and Greece must benefit from an expansion of the ideas of their societal culture.

Conclusion

Inclusive leadership presents different components to different countries in a global environment that assembles from the U.S. that includes Singapore, Iran, Greece, and Germany. Followers from Iran and Greece would benefit by participating in the global environment. However, it will not be beneficial to inclusive leadership as it is less in the orientation of future. The beginning point for expanding as well as understanding the evaluation of the practices of inclusive leadership is presented in the Project Globe. It also helped in understanding the potential impacts on the increase in the global organizational environment. It presented the fact that the followers from Singapore and Germany would accept inclusive leadership.
