Essential concepts of SCM and its application over CII service operations

The supply chain management programs contain inventory which is either a raw or finished product provided by retailers, producers and merchants (Véronneaue al. 2015). There are various important concepts that are related to the association of relative concluding perspective for the supply chain management system. Some of them are largely associated with the customer perspective and some are related to the organizational perspectives. Firstly, right to fulfilment is the most basic as well as important concept that is related to supply chain management system. It is defined as the ability and need for the organizations to meet each and every potential customer available. It also describes the basic operational perspectives hat are associated with an organizational setup which implicates the association of product and service availability according to the respective requirement (Yazdaniet al. 2017). In order to fulfil this required set of customer oriented demand, a set of seven fulfilment rights are mentioned which account for an efficient development of the whole supply chain management process.

Service operations such as CII are highly related to the availability of an effective supply chain management system. It helps in gaining a considerable amount of goods and services available for its consumers at a very effective pricing and time requirement. The relationship based over information sharing and cooperation are considerably of much more importance as it helps in gaining coordination from all the relative factors such as producers, retailers and manufacturers (Panayideset al. 2018). In addition to this, the service operations such as CIIalso require certain amount of developmental perspectives that are largely associated with time fragments thus in order to maintain the respective demand supply intact and operational. Availability of an effective supply chain management system is also very useful in providing appropriate planning perspectives for the companies related to cruise line industry. The availability of proper planning provides a major help in order to maintain the policy development process. It also supports procurement possibilities in the purchasing section of the supply chain management. The potential products and services that are to be purchased and implemented in operational manner are of major importance as being a customer the organizations related to cruise line industry are familiar with their respective requirements and specifications (Campos and Rebs, 2018). The availability of performance measuring through channel-spanning, provides with an additional advantage as it helps in reaching the end user in a much more effective and efficient manner. In addition to this, an effective supply chain management system has a multi-level decision making system which provides relative informational perspective about each of the operational segments that are in operation. This availability of multi-level decision making factor is largely associated with a major monitoring perspective as it facilitates a record keeping and performance examining process within the organizational supply chain management process. Effective supply chain management systems also provides an opportunity to module or customize the supply chain in terms of operations, suppliers and facilitators which is a major advantage for any organizational setup from any industry. It also helps in listening to the respective market considerations and signals and build appropriate planning and strategies accordingly (Joneset al. 2016). This helps in relating the planning and developmental assumptions in order to facilitate the developmental perspectives associated with it. This market oriented analysis and planning is also helpful in framing adequate policies that can be used to uplift the quality of product and services available. A direct impact of this initiative can be felt in the customer support and availability as quality based industries like the cruise line industry large relay over this factor. In addition to this, it also helps in building an efficient framework for branding and promotion of the relative organizations and industries which is also a major positive point for development (Grant and Elliott, 2016).

Supplier partnership and issues regarding its application at CII

Supplier partnerships are very crucial perspective of a CII supply chain management operations. It is the concept of building policies for effective success in a supply chain management system. The issue is simple; companies related to CII need their goods and services for an effective operation. The manufacturers, retailers and distributors are responsible for fulfilling this demand. So, the availability of an operational system that facilitates proper movement of the required resources and information is a major help to both. The partnering relationship between suppliers and CII are widely accepted factor in order to increase profitability and at the same time it also improves the availability of required products and services at all times (Palliset al. 2018). The issue that is related to a CII operation is its demand variety. It requires products and services according to its standards and requirements and thus this availability is largely associated with an available relationship with the direct supplier. It also helps in improving the economic perspectives related to product and services along with their availability all around the year. In addition to this, the availability of efficient suppliers also provide a respective cut down in the overall operational costs and this facilitates an improvement in service expectation for the operations related to CII. These collaborations provide an insight for customer oriented products and services which in return save a considerable amount of time and resources (Christopher, 2016). The partnerships also provide a considerable amount of smoothness to the overall operational structure which in many folds increases the satisfaction perspectives associated with the clients. It also helps in building strong understanding that can be very beneficial in times of crisis. Partnerships that are in to action for a considerable amount of time led to the availability of respective understanding which as a result provides a guarantee for the product or service quality associated with that supplier (Brandenburget al. 2014).

The main issue associated with this supply chain partnership is the reliability of suppliers in terms of time requirement, product quality and availability. These aspects are of major concern for any supply chain partnership in terms of CII operations. In addition to this, factors such as flexibility, complexity and type of logistics are some important factors that relate with the overall issue associated with the process. These factors influence the relationship in order to partner with all major perspectives that are associated with supply chain management (Pagell and Shevchenko, 2014).

Another major factor that must be taken in to consideration in order to partner with suppliers is that the core business should be kept under organizational setup and only non-core business should be outsourced to relative vendors. Unavailability of proper pricing and efficient delivery time are some of the most important factors that are related to development of issues in a CII operation management partnership. In addition to this, the availability of short termed goals among suppliers is also a major issue as it degrades the quality of service and at the same time it also hinders long termed goals achievement. Unavailability of an efficient reward system that is aligned with respective supply chain strategies also impacts the operational factors throughout the system as well as hinders development of an effective partnership between the management and suppliers. In majority of the cases there is a conflict between acceptance of the available laws and regulations related to business perspectives (Hazen et al. 2014). This conflict availability reduces the acceptance of general developmental perspectives throughout the supply chain management system of the system. In addition to this, long terms relationships with suppliers often lead to a considerable amount of decrement in the basic operational perspectives that are related to the system and thus impact the overall business in a very adverse perspective.

Purchasing function and potential interest and ethical issues

Purchasing accounts for some of the most impactful results over the supply chain management perspectives all around the operational setup of a cruise line industry. It can be considered as one of the most significant section of a supply chain management system of the cruise line industry. Lower costs, quality improvements, risk reduction, innovations, relationship management and technology leverage are some of the most important fields that are highly impacted with the association of purchasing function in a supply chain management system. It defines the amount of business and relative product availability in accordance with the available suppliers and facilitators (Dubeyet al. 2017). In majority of the operational structures, purchasing provides with an overall process development as it impacts almost each and every factor related to supply chain management.Purchasing in context of cruise line industry is related to the association of supplier identification, facilitation of material purchases through market studies, analysis of supplier proposals, initiating supplier selection and making purchase orders and negotiation. In the current context of the operational structures related to cruise line industry, the purchasing department is responsible for a majority of factors apart from those mentioned above. In addition to this, the impact and importance of the purchasing perspectives related to a Supply chain management system also demands time oriented process and completion of each fragment of operation within the set time limit. Initially, this department of the supply chain management system was included in material management section but in later years due to a vast field of operations, it was included as a separate segment in supply chain management. It provides the organizations to relate with an overall operational arrangements and perspectives that are of major importance in terms of customer service and demands. Purchasing is considered as one of the central substitution of the overall operational system that is associated with a supply chain (Pagell and Shevchenko, 2014).

The potential conflict of interest or ethical issues are completely different for different set of business. In terms of cruise line industry, the availability of potential conflict of interest is likely to arise while procuring decision engagement, activity consultation and utilization of organizational services and resources. There are several situations that relate to the availability of interest conflicts between different segments of an organizational structure related to cruise line industry. Firstly, personal and family relationships are considered as a major reason for interest conflicts. It arises with some incidents that led to selection of a particular supplier on the basis of its family relationships with any of the buyer. It is a major issue as in context of supply chain management system, this kind of relationships are highly impactful in terms of decreased organizational development. Secondly, receiving or sending gifts to any of the associated members for obtaining or providing any out of the line help. This is also a major reason in the current supply chain management system as it decreases the product and service quality which ultimately impacts to huge business losses. The third factor that comes in to consideration is irrespective usage of company resources for personal benefits and advantages. This is also a huge issue in terms of interest conflict as in majority of the cases the associated use company resources for non-business operations (Brandenburget al. 2014).

Conclusion

The resources included in this assessment account for products such as equipment and services. Lastly, investments in the supplier organizations by respective employees who are also in charge of buying products from similar company, is a major factor that is related to the association of respective interest conflict and non-ethical practice. In some cases this scenario is not treated as conflict until there is a major reporting associated with it. In order to avoid the availability of any kind of interest conflict the organizations must relate with these factors and work accordingly. It will help in gaining an efficient type of supply chain management system throughout the cruise line industry.
